At-Home Euthanasia Service

We understand that the end of your pet’s life is a difficult and emotional time. That’s why we provide compassionate end-of-life care and euthanasia for pets in the comfort of their own homes.

Dr. Vega believes that pets should be at home at the end of their lives where they are most comfortable - helping pets transition with dignity and in peace, surrounded by family and love in their final moments.

We understand that this is a difficult time for you and your pet. We are here to support you every step of the way. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

ALL appointments must be scheduled in advance, no walk-ins accepted, no emergency services, no on-call services. If you need immediate help (emergency services), please call your local veterinary clinic as they will be better able to assist you and your pet promptly.

Euthanasia Service

The service will begin by administering a sedative to your pet, via a quick injection under the skin. This injection will allow them to relax and provide pain relief as the sedation takes effect – your pet will gradually fall asleep within 10-15 minutes. Once your pet is fully sedate, we will then shave a limb to place an IV catheter. Once this IV catheter is placed, we will proceed with the final injection which is the euthanasia medication. This medication will allow your pet to pass shortly after administration. Dr. Vega will then confirm that your pet has passed by listening to your pet’s heart.

If you are not ready for euthanasia, but have a senior pet, we also offer quality of life consults.

After Care Options

You have three options available to you regarding your pet's remains; home burial, group cremation, and private cremation. All cremation is provided by Columbia Pet Service, a separate company.

Private cremation is when a pet is individually cremated and ashes are returned back to you (in a velvet pouch inside a white cardboard box).

*Cedar Wood Urn (with engraved name plate) is $75 additional.

Group cremation is when multiple pets are cremated together and no ashes are returned.

If you opt for cremation, we will arrange the transport of remains to the crematorium after the service, and we will arrange your requested cremation service on your behalf.

If you opt for home burial, please check with your city or county to ensure you are in compliance with local ordinances.

Euthanasia Costs

The cost of at-home euthanasia varies per pet; it is dependent on the weight of a pet, and the location of where the euthanasia service will occur.
